From now on, we're using chilis from Senegal!

Milestone: We are now using African chilies as the base for our chili sauces!

A milestone to be celebrated

It's finally done: African chillies not only give our sauces a special flavour, but have also significantly increased SOCHILI's social impact!

✨ Improved Recipe – With the Senegalese chillies & lime juice, the recipes of our sauces have been taken to a new level!

✨ Greater Impact – By cultivating, trading & processing the chillies, you are making a statement for fair trade! Our collaboration with the farm in Sipane, Senegal, particularly enables the women's cooperative operating there, which processes the chillies into a delicious puree, to access financial resources.

✨ Share the Power – Our mission to empower farmers remains unchanged: 1 chilli sauce = 1 day of solar power! The first-time access to electricity helps the families on site.

But what may seem like a small step from the outside was a huge challenge behind the scenes – a journey that demanded a lot from all of us.

To us, chilies are far more than just a tasty ingredient

A Journey Full of Challenges and Great Successes

Since its founding in November 2021, social impact has been SOCHILI's focus, as our brand name [pronounced: socially] already suggests. However, getting hold of the chilies was anything but easy, as some of you may have already read in our blog post about the setbacks with cultivation in Senegal. But our perseverance and the determination of our partners have paid off.

Over the past few years, we have worked step by step towards this success. The stages of a mammoth project:

✔️ Finding a chili farm that matches our mission – With 'Ferme Hallier', we have found an ideal partner in the Global South who shares our values. It is certified with the 'Fair for Life' seal and actively promotes sustainable agriculture.

✔️ Developing a new product together with the farmers – To ensure local value creation, we have worked to anchor the first production steps directly with the farmers. The result is a delicious and high-quality chili puree that is suitable for import.

✔️ Mastering import into the EU – Importing the chilies safely and successfully into the EU was a hurdle in itself. But with a lot of effort, many translations, and some grey hairs, we were able to overcome this challenge as well.

✔️ Manufacturing the sauces – With the African chili puree, we have refined our recipe once again and thus bring a fruity-spicy kick to all your favorite dishes.

These sauces are more than a taste experience – they are a sign that patience and effort pay off.

Try our new sauce and tell your friends about it. This way, you help strengthen fair trade and spread our mission to the world.
